Emergency tree work in Glastonbury and across Somerset

We’re usually available for 24-hour emergency callouts. If a tree has come down across a road or path, or onto a house or shed, call us and tell us what’s happened.

What is emergency tree work?

Emergency tree work means dealing with a tree or large branch that has come down or could come down soon. That might mean making the area safe first, then clearing the tree.

If anyone is in immediate danger, call 999. Stay well clear of the tree. If it’s touching power lines, don’t go near it and call 105, the power network emergency number.

If the tree looks like a worry but isn’t urgent, tree felling or tree pruning may be what you need.

When you might need it

  • A tree or large branch has fallen in a storm
  • A tree has landed on a house, fence, car or drive
  • A tree is blocking your access
  • A tree has started to lean, or the ground has lifted around its roots
  • A large branch has split and is hanging

Emergency tree work questions

How quickly can you get to me?

Usually within an hour or two, depending on how urgent it is. Call us, tell us what’s happened, and we’ll deal with it as quickly as we can.

What should I do while I’m waiting?

Keep people and pets well away from the tree and anything it’s resting on. Don’t try to cut or move it yourself. If you can do so safely, take some photos for your records.

Will my insurance cover it?

It depends on your policy and what’s been damaged, so contact your insurer as soon as you can and ask what they need from you. If they ask for anything from us, let us know and we’ll tell you what we can provide.

The tree belongs to my neighbour or the council. What do I do?

Let the owner know as soon as you can. If a tree is blocking a public road or path, report it to Somerset Council. If there’s immediate danger, call 999.

Do I need permission if the tree is protected?

Dangerous protected trees can be treated differently from normal work, but you should still tell Somerset Council as soon as you can, and keep photos as evidence of the danger. Tell us about it when you call and we’ll talk it through.
